November Events

November is half-way finished but in no way does that prevent us from wanting to post about the rest of the events that are happening in this cold, dry, bitter month. Sure, it’s freezing outside, but of course you’ve been hiding inside with no TheYeogiyo.com listings to help you know what’s going on, so bundle up and get back out there with these suggestions.

If you need tickets or further information about the goods you’ll find below, ask us at TheYeogiyo.com, and stay tuned to this site (as you surely always are) for information about swine flu induced cancelations. By all means if you have something to share, let us know – we’re waiting for you…but not in a creepy way.

Hotel Week
When: November 15th – November 25th
Where: Various hotels throughout Seoul
How much: Massive Discounts on packages including dinners and limousines
No really, what?: As part of Seoul Grand Sale 2009, spend a night in something other than a love motel or jimjilbang or ditch. Get a few friends together, or dote on your loved one, with big sales (but not cheap prices) on luxurious evenings inside. There’s no better way to get warm then by burning through a few hundred dollars.

No really, what?: The Seoul International Women’s Association puts much effort into organizing this huge annual charity bazaar, which brings together fifty embassies to showcase their own cultural wares (yes, that includes food.) Besides filling your shopping bags, you can win with a silent auction, dream lottery and instant lucky draw – and get this – the proceeds from your purchases go to charity. What’s not to love?

Where: Seorae Global Village Centre, Seoul
How much: Free
No really, what?: In case you haven’t gotten your hands into a pile of kimchi this season (which is traditionally known as a time for making kimchi, if you haven’t noticed the influx of cabbage at the market), now’s your chance! Just before National Kimchi Day, do your work to help make kimchi for those who can’t do so themselves but can’t live without it. E-mail the below address for more information about the event and meeting place.

No really, what?: Combined with the event just above,  we’d say Busan is pretty much the best place in the world to live on November 19th through to the 22nd. After getting your drink on at the wine show, take a wobbly saunter over to the cake and bakery show in…get this…the same building. Christmas is most certainly coming early, although surely, so is a gin-and-cake-induced coma.
