Default Any moms out there??

I've been living in Korea with my husband and 2year old daughter for almost 2 years. We are both working as English teachers at public schools in a small town called Dongducheon, near Uijeongbu. We're from South Africa. I'm looking to find other moms/friends who would like to get together. I'm afraid if I don't start making friends soon I'm going to become a hermit with no social skills to speak of. So if you fancy meeting for coffee or a playdate, let me know!

I'm a mom and I know your pain !

Unfortunately my son is not your daughter's age. He is a new crawler and couldn't keep up. Plus we don't live anywhere near you in north Seoul (I am in Bundang)

Have you joined http://expatparents.50.forumer.com ? They frequently have meetups for playdates in Seoul!

Was your daughter born here in Korea?

Hi!

Thanks for your reply!

I haven't checked out the site yet but will definitely have a look, thanks

No, my daughter was actually born in the UK when I was teaching there. We went home (South Africa) when she was 2 months and then we came here when she was nine months, so all in all, although she was born in the UK, has South African parents, she's more Korean than anything else!!

I know how you feel! My son is 19 months now and talks a LOT of Korean. We both work, so he spends a lot of time with his 이모.

Unfortunately we are in Yongin so are even further away than Box_of_Rain.

I'm not a mom, but I used to live in Uijeongbu, and there's a rather close-knit expat community there. I even had some close friends who lived in Dongducheon as well (she worked for DFL, and he was near there). Anyways, you might want to check Facebook as well, there's a group called "(The group formerly known as) Wednesday Night Group" of people in that area who, if they're not parents themselves, might know someone who is.
