A Night of Shakespeare

A Night of Shakespeare is a diverse show of selected scenes and speeches from the Bard's greatest plays, including Macbeth, Hamlet, Othello, Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Richard III. The pieces will mainly be performed in English, but the show will also feature extracts in French and Korean, offering a comprehensive introduction to Shakespeare's tragedies, comedies, history plays and sonnets.

The majority of "Comfort Women" were Korean, due to Korea's status as a Japanese colony at the time. The House of Sharing is a residence in Gwangju, Gyeonggi-do where eight former "Comfort Women" live. You will have the opportunity to not only learn more about the atrocities that were inflicted upon these women, but also the steps these courageous ladies and their supporters have taken in their pursuit of justice. The Great Myth and Mystery of Peruvian Civilization

Other fascinating exhibits include the secrecy of mystical Nazca lines and Machu Picchu, also known as the castle in the air.

The Grand World of Andy Warhol
When: ongoing until April 4th, 2010. Weekdays, 10 a.m. – 9 and weekends 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Where: Seoul Museum of Art (City Hall Station, lines 1 and 2, exit 10).
How much: W12,000 (adults), W10,000 (teens), W8,000 (seven - twelve)
No really, what?: You’ll be able to see about 210 Warhol works on loan from the Andy Warhol museum in Pittsburgh. Expect to see a taste of his work with celebrities and cans of soup, as well as photos documenting his life. At the last exhibit here that we went to, there were also ways to interact with the art work and make a Warhol using your face which would then be projected onto the wall, but, no promises.

Traditional Music Performances
When: Every Saturday through to June 26th, 2010, 3 p.m.
Where: National Folk Museum, Gyeongbokgung Palace (Gyeongbokgung Station, Exit 5)
How much: Free with entrance to the palace (W1,500 – W3,000)
No really, what?: Regular Saturday performances add to your walk about the Palace grounds with traditional performances of dances, gut (exorcism rites) and Korean classical music. Performances will take place outdoors once the weather gets nicer in late April/early May.

Beethoven 2010
When: Ongoing until December 2010, 8 p.m. (2:30 p.m. on September 18th)
Where: Concert Hall, Seoul Arts Centre
How much: W20,000 – W40,000
No really, what?: Once a month give or take a few months conductor Kim Dae-Jin leads the Suwon Philharmonic Orchestra through the works of Beethoven. See them all to gear up for Brahms in 2011 and Bach in 2012 (assuming, of course, that the world is still here).
